The John Byrne Band is led by former Patrick's Head front man and Dublin native John Byrne. Their album, After the Wake, was released to critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic in 2010. With influences ranging from The Chieftains to Planxty to Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, Johnís songwriting honors and expands upon the musical and lyrical traditions of his native and adopted homes. John and the band followed up After the Wake in early 2013 with an album of Celtic and American traditional tunes. The album, Celtic/Folk, released on March 5th 2013, has become a staple on local and national Folk Radio. The band will begin recording a follow up album of original material later in 2013, tentatively called "The Immigrant and the Orphan".

 John and the band promoted the albums with a series of sold out shows at World Cafť Live in Philadelphia and spent the past two years touring both nationally and internationally. John and the band have sold out World Cafe Live on 5 separate occasions over the past 2-3 years and perform regularly at the Sellersville Theater, the Mauch Chunk Opera House. They have also played the TLA in Philadelphia and most of the areaís premier venues and Listening Rooms.

 The John Byrne Band, however, is as much at home in a traditional session at a corner bar as it is in larger venues/festivals and opening for national acts.  John has  toured with and opened up for acts  as diverse as The Hothouse Flowers, The Young Dubliners, Ian Gillan (of Deep Purple), Patti Smyth, Gaelic Storm, Finbar Furey, Dervish, The Saw Doctors, The Screaming Orphans, Black 47, The Greencards and Enter the Haggis. Recent festival experience includes Musikfest (twice), The Philadelphia Fleadh, UPennís Spring Fest, The Saltwater Celtic Festival (Maine), The Orange Crush Irish Fest (Sioux City), the Delaware Irish Festival, The River City Festival, and will be soon performing at the Valley Forge Mid-Winter Fest. He has also been frequently featured on WXPN, NBC 10 ( 2 live performances on the 10! Show) WSTW and local College Radio. Recently, John and the Band performed with The Irish Tenors for the Liberty Medal Presentation at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia before President Bill Clinton and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

 With a strong following in the PA/NJ/DE area, John has been focusing on touring the country through 2012/13, expanding his fan base and delighting audiences with his storytelling, humor and songs. John generally tours as a 4-piece that includes fiddle/cello, guitar, banjo and bodhran, but will often tour solo or with just one other band member. Local shows often add bass/drums and accordion.
